I was hostess for our book club last night (hence I’m a bit tired this morning as we chatted until nearly ten).  I baked like a mad lady yesterday afternoon – monte carlos, coconut jam slice, rock cakes and jam drops were on the menu.  Mr Petit was delighted this morning to find two monte carlos to take to work for smoko.  I love our book club because we have such a variety of people (well, me the youngest at 29, then a couple of ladies who I guess are in their late 60’s and early 70’s), although we only have one man.  So conversations are always interesting as we have such a range of opinions on the books.  We were also talking about other book clubs we had been in in the past, with book club styles ranging from not actually talking about the books (just a gossip session) to being what I refer to a literary nazis where some members’ opinions are king and are imposed on the other members!  I’m looking forward to this month’s book – Saturday by Ian McEwen.  First I have to finish my currently library book – Jackdaws by Ken Follet.
